Dr. Dobbs brings his artistic insight to this service, creating a spiritually uplifting experience through a combination of music by some of the area’s best jazz musicians and a selection of inspirational readings—classic to contemporary.

For September’s service, the Woodside Jazz Ensemble—with talented musicians from the church’s congregation—will provide special music. Musical selections, readings, meditations and prayers will be focused on At the River’s Edge.

Grants available: Prophetic Integrity, Mission Area Team

To All Michigan Congregations:

Are you aware that the Prophetic Integrity Mission Area Team has funds available to assist local churches in peace with justice, hunger action and other social ministries in which they either are already engaged within their communities or in the process of laying the groundwork for future such engagement?

In 2009, grants were given to 13 churches for such ministries as: work with the physically challenged - maintaining independence, speaking up for themselves; a rural community interfaith emergency fund - help with utility shut-offs, rent, etc; an annual peace lecture in a far off corner of the state where such lectures are rare; and youth programs - youth experience a different way of life through involvement in other communities different from their own.

Applications for 2010 grants are available (click on Michigan Conference under "Resources").  None may exceed $500.  The deadline has been extended; please have applications mailed to the Conference office by October 15th.

For further information, please contact P.I. co-facilitator, Bob Frederick at either This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or 517.333.1846.
